The Council requires a supplier for the provision of an academic evaluation of the Birmingham and Lewisham African and Caribbean Health Inequalities Review Implementation within the Birmingham Health and Care System.
The Birmingham and Lewisham African and Caribbean Health Inequalities Review (BLACHIR) was launched in 2020 as a partnership between Birmingham and Lewisham to explore and better understand the inequalities affecting African and Caribbean communities in these areas and co-produce opportunities for action with communities to break structural inequalities and achieve sustainable change.
Therefore, to ensure that Birmingham continues to show commitment towards implementing the BLACHIR Review, it is vital to evidence and demonstrate the benefit to the system and the citizens of Birmingham, that has been achieved as a result of BLACHIR.
Research Aims and Objectives
To ensure that the evaluation is purposeful and beneficial to all relevant stakeholders, the aims and objectives of this research have been coproduced with BLACHIRIB members, the ICS Taskforce and Community Engagement Partners over four separate workshop sessions. Co-production and collaboration is a fundamental principle which should underpin all aspects of this research piece.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the BLACHIR approach in facilitating purposeful and ongoing systemic change to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for racialised communities.
The Council expects the successful provider to work closely with the BCC teams and relevant BLACHIR partner organisations, as the evaluation must help inform and support the ongoing implementation of the BLACHIR Review across Birmingham's Health and Care System.
This contract will be for a period of 12 months commencing on Tuesday 1st May 2025 until Thursday 30th April 2026.
