Cork University Hospital, Wilton - Northern Boundary Link Walkway and Associated Works Detailed description The project intends to replace the existing Helipad landing site at Bishopstown GAA with the construction of a new helipad within the hospital campus and will provide enhanced facilities to deal with critically ill patients. It will be a fully integrated element of the wider hospital operational infrastructure, focusing on the needs of the individual by providing an appropriate environment for patients and for the staff responsible for service delivery. It will support and contribute to the attainment and maintenance of best practice in all aspects of the care service provided.
The new helipad will be constructed in the Northeast Staff Carpark on the Hospital site. It will be linked to the Hospital via an enclosed access way/walkway which will include bed lift and stair access. The walkway will connect to the Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED). Modifications will be made to the internal ED corridor to facilitate the safe transfer of patients from the helipad.
The Works will also include the demolition of the existing boiler house chimney stack which lies within the landing approach/ take-off air corridor.
The Project will be delivered in 2nr. phases under separate contracts. The delivery of both projects will overlap. This is Phase 1 of the above project.
