The first orders made under the legislation are in respect of Northern Ireland related records, and the transfer of these records up to 1998 by the Department of Foreign Affairs has already been completed, with the preparation of files up to 2002 currently in progress. As the Department now looks to the long-term implementation of the ’20 year rule’, the services of an Information Reader/Classifier is required to assist in this task by reading, reviewing, and classifying files ahead of their transfer. The successful consultant(s) will be required to review, assess and classify approximately 1,500 Northern Ireland related files for transfer to the National Archives of Ireland. This project will be carried out in the offices of the Department based in Dublin. The Department will engage up to 2 individual consultants to provide support for this service.
